> ## Agent Instructions
> Five API is a video generation REST API. Base URL: https://api.fiveapi.ai. Authenticate with the header Authorization: Bearer <API key>; read the key from the FIVEAPI_API_KEY environment variable and never hard-code it.
> Every generation is an asynchronous task: POST /v1/{brand}/{version}/{task} returns a queued task, then poll GET /v1/tasks/{task_id} or receive a signed webhook, and download output.video.url before expires_at (7 days).
> The OpenAPI spec is at https://docs.fiveapi.ai/api-reference/openapi.yaml. An installable agent skill: npx skills add https://docs.fiveapi.ai

# Agent skills

> Install the Five API skill so your AI coding agent can generate videos and write your Five API integration.

The Five API agent skill teaches AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Windsurf and GitHub Copilot how to use Five API: which model to pick, how to create and follow tasks, how to verify webhooks and how to handle errors and credits.

## What your agent can do

* **Generate videos** from text, an image, reference assets or an existing clip, from a single request in plain language
* **Pick the right model** for the job: speed, cost, resolution, duration and audio
* **Follow the task** from `queued` to `completed` and hand you the video URL
* **Write your integration:** API client, retries with idempotency keys, a webhook endpoint with signature verification
* **Manage credits:** check your balance before generating and explain what each task was charged

## Install

Run this in your project:

```bash theme={null}
npx skills add https://docs.fiveapi.ai
```

The [skills CLI](https://www.npmjs.com/package/skills) installs the skill into the coding agents it finds on your machine. Then make your API key available to the agent:

```bash theme={null}
export FIVEAPI_API_KEY="sk_live_..."
```

> [!WARNING]
>
> The agent uses your key to create real tasks, which cost credits. Keep the key in an environment variable, never in your prompts or in committed files.

## Try it

Ask your agent, for example:

> Generate a 5-second 480p video of a paper boat floating down a rain gutter with Five API.

> Animate [https://example.com/my-product.png](https://example.com/my-product.png) into a slow 360-degree orbit, 1080p, with Wan 3.0 Prime Spark.

> Add a Five API webhook endpoint to this Express app that verifies the signature and stores completed videos in S3.

> Write a Python worker that creates Five API tasks from our job queue, retries safely and stays within the concurrency limit.

The agent chooses a model, creates the task, waits for the result and gives you the video URL, or writes the code into your project.

## Install manually

The skill is a single Markdown file, published at [/skill.md](https://docs.fiveapi.ai/skill.md). To install it by hand, for example for Claude Code:

```bash theme={null}
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/fiveapi-video
curl -o ~/.claude/skills/fiveapi-video/SKILL.md https://docs.fiveapi.ai/skill.md
```

The list of skills this site publishes is at [/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json](https://docs.fiveapi.ai/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json).

## Prerequisites

1. A Five API account and an API key from [fiveapi.ai](https://fiveapi.ai) (**API Keys**). See [Authentication](https://testweb2-docs-openapi.test765.com/authentication.md).
2. Credits on your balance. See [Credits and pricing](https://testweb2-docs-openapi.test765.com/pricing.md).
3. Public HTTPS URLs for any input image, video or audio. Five API has no upload endpoint; see [Input files](https://testweb2-docs-openapi.test765.com/concepts/input-files.md).
